An ethical dilemma is a complex situation that often involves an apparent mental conflict between moral imperatives, in which to obey one would result in transgressing another.

There are certain steps that can be taken so that it makes it "easier" or "cut and dry" when making a choice between two opposing options. You can follow the chart in order to help you decide what the "best" choice is.

Ethical Dilemma: Task

Your task is to analyze an ethical dilemma. Choose one of the four dilemmas listed below. You must consider the alternatives and give reasons for the why and the why not you should do what is described. Then you must choose what you do and explain why.

Ethical Dilemma Chosen: Someone you know works at a store that sells iPods. He steals some and asks if you want to buy one for half the price the store sells it for? Should you buy it? Why or why not?

Half Price This friend that works at Best Buy, let's call him Josh, decides to leave his moral standards behind and steal a number of "Apple ipod Touch" products and is planning to sell them to those who are interested for half the price that the store sells it for.










What are you going to do?

Half Price It is now up to you to decide if you are going to accept Josh's offer or refuse it. You have to weigh out the benefits and consequences of either buying it from Josh or simply going to Best Buy yourself and buying a iPod. So what are you going to do?
